#76 Mad Hatter Te Punca – A southern hemisphere sensation

Review #76 – Mad Hatter Te Punca 75/100

A bold, robust IPA hopped with some potent southern hemisphere strains from New Zealand and Australia.  This is a full flavoured, high alpha acid and fruity IPA with a flavour not often seen in many IPAs.

Out of the bottle and into the glass the Te Punca pours a deep amber colour with a tall, very lively head.

The nose is heavily dominated by fruits – pineapple, sharp berries, citrus fruits, spice and pine oil.

On the palate the beer is packed full of sharp white grape flavours, dry Sauvignon Blanc, pine, eucalyptus, pineapple and mango.  The alpha acid level is quite hight leaving a long, sharp bitter finish.

Cheers

Matt
